Peggy’s story is a tough one to read. She was thrown to the desert at a young age. After many sightings of her and several other chihuahuas roaming the desert, a rescue was asked to trap & save them. When Peggy was finally trapped, she was heavily pregnant & due to give birth at any moment. She delivered 6 healthy puppies after coming to Pathways for Paws. All her puppies are now in their loving, furever homes.
Peggy is still learning to trust humans. Over the past months, she has made amazing progress. She is always excited to greet you after you’ve been gone. She lets you rub her chin or scratch her nose. She will sit next to you once she’s comfortable, but she still doesn’t allow too much petting. She will simply jump off the couch or move away. She has never shown any aggression. She welcomes all the new rescue dogs & shows them the way around. She makes sure they know where the food & water is, where to go potty through the dog door, where to relax on the sofa & how to play with toys! She has the biggest personality!
Peggy is ready for a family now. We believe she will thrive on her own with a family who is patient, caring & understands that all she needs is time to come out of her shell. She will need a home with a secured, walled backyard. She shows interest in going for walks but has never been. She is 2 years old, house trained, spayed, vaccinated & microchipped. She would truly benefit having another 4-legged friend to play with & sleep next to in her furever home.
