Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located in Tucson, AZ - South of the University of Arizona. We do not publicize our address. If an appointment is scheduled, the address will be given at that time.
Q: What are your hours?
A: We do not have open/close hours. Everything is by appointment only!
Q: What are your adoption fees?
A: $0-$400. Adoption fees are based on age, breed & current needs of the dog.
Q: How do I adopt a dog from your organization?
A: Please complete an adoption application from our website www.pathwaysforpaws.com. After your application is reviewed, you will be contacted IF your application fits the needs of the dog you're applying for.
Q: When will I know if my adoption application has been approved?
A: You will only be contacted via text (usually) if your application has been approved to adopt. We try to get back to those approved within 48 hrs of submitting. At this time, we do not have the means to reach out to everyone who has applied with a status update.
Q: How do I place a hold on one of your orginization's dogs?
A: Once you have been approved to adopt, you will have the option to place a hold electronically through Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay or Card (+fee). The hold does go towards the adoption fee.
Q: Is the hold refundable?
A: By placing a hold on one of our dogs, that dog becomes unavailable to other potential adopters. If you place the hold & then decide not to move forward with the adoption, the hold is not refundable & is turned into a donation to Pathways for Paws. If a Pathways for Paws representative decides not to move forward with the adoption, you will be refunded your hold.
Q: What makes me ineligible to adopt?
A: 1. We only want what's best for our dogs. All of our dogs come from different background & ways of life. Each dog has their own specific needs & if your application does not match those needs, you are not eligible to adopt that specific dog.
2. If your current animals are not spay/neutered, you are not eligible to adopt from us. Part of our mission is to stop the overpopulation of unwanted, neglected dogs. We understand there are certain situations where an animal can not be fixed, there is space on the application to elaborate.
Q: Does your organization offer trial runs (take the dog home to see if its a good fit)?
No. We get multiple calls/texts daily for dogs in need of shelter/safety. As soon as one of our dogs gets adopted, there is another dog waiting for their space. We put a lot of effort & time into the dogs descriptions to explain their current needs, behaviors, habits, etc. We encourage you to read each description carefully & any questions you may have can be answered. We want our adopters to be 100% sure about the dog their adopting with no hesitation.
Q: Where do you get your dogs?
A: Our dogs come from owner surrenders, shelters, rescues & unclaimed strays.
Q: Where can I view what dogs are currently at Pathways for Paws?
A: We post all of our dogs on our website, Facebook, PetFinder, Adopt-A-Pet & Instagram.
Q: How can I get involved?
A: The best way to get involved is to complete a volunteer form on our website under the "Get Involved" tab. It gives us an idea of your availability & how you're looking to help. You can also email pathwaysforpaws@yahoo.com.
Q: Can I surrender a dog to your organization?
A: Everything is situational. Please email pathwaysforpaws@yahoo.com or text 520-444-7803 with as much information as you can regarding the dog/situation.
Q: What happens if I can no longer keep the dog I adopted from you after the adoption is finalized?
A: At Pathways for Paws, every adopter leaves knowing the dog is to be returned back to us if any unforseen circumstances arise & you're no longer able to care for the dog. No questions asked.
Q: How do I donate to your organization?
A: We accept donations of any kind, thank you! Click the "Donate" tab on the top of our page for more information or email pathwaysforpaws@yahoo.com.
